Alarming Footage Reveals Point Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Ambush
A police sergeant that leaped to the help of a colleague that got attacked by a blade-wielder received the Royal Recognition for Valor.
Sergeant Tim Ansell grappled with twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown after he held a knife to the neck of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the officers and their third officer, PC Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver subsequent to a traffic accident in that location in summer 2023.
Brown attacked with blade the two Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a stun gun.
"Officer knifed," the officer stated over his radio.
Bodyworn and dashcam recording released by the agency showed Brown, who was dressed in black with a head covered, rush to Sergeant Foster from the rear with a weapon extended.
He struck the policeman who stumbled and went down to the pavement, before Sgt Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the ground despite being repeatedly struck with the weapon.
PC Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a open target, bringing the fight to an conclusion.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get help on my throat now, I'm bleeding in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell received two deep cuts to his neck and more wounds to his limbs and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster received slash wounds.
Authorities said Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stem his partner's blood loss before paramedics came.
The new honor comes after the trio of policemen won departmental Valor Recognitions in October 2023 and the police federation award from the local union branch in April 2024.
They were also awarded a Regional Courage Honor in mid-2024.
"The actions of all three officers eventually saved one another and ensured no members of the public experienced any harm."
Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in April 2024, per authorities.
